Some Michigan residents who were previously eligible will no longer receive additional weeks unemployment benefits, revealed the state.
Michigan is no longer at the highest point unemployment period, so plaintiffs who receive extended benefits and pandemic unemployment benefits will no longer receive them for additional weeks, according to state officials.
Residents affected by this change in benefit delivery have been notified, officials said.
A period of high unemployment occurs when unemployment in the state reaches a certain threshold. Under federal law, a state in a period of high unemployment receives an additional seven weeks of PUA and EB benefits.
Because Michigan is no longer in a period of high unemployment, those seven additional weeks will not be paid, according to officials.
Announcements
For residents who receive additional benefits that have already been paid for the maximum number of weeks, their demand is considered exhausted and there are no more weeks of additional benefits available, state officials reported.
These residents could be eligible for benefits through another program. They will be notified if they can request it.
Residents receiving pandemic unemployment assistance have had their maximum number of weeks reduced from 57 to 50.
