Some post offices will close soon due to “possible civil event”

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (KKTV) – The U.S. Postal Service announced Friday that it would take precautions ahead of possible civilian events.

The USPS said post office locations in Denver and Colorado Springs would have reduced hours on Saturday.

In Colorado Springs, the 201 E. Pikes Peak Ave. was scheduled to open Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. The lobby will be open from 6 a.m. to noon.

USPS also said numerous blue collection boxes will be removed. The postal service said all collection boxes would be replaced once the potential threat was over. According to a list sent by USPS, 22 collection boxes will be removed in Colorado Springs, mostly in the downtown area.

The postal service said these are temporary measures to protect mail, employees and the community.
