Last week, Roger Craig Smith, the voice of Sonic the hedgehog for more than ten years – announced his departure from the role.
Obviously, there has been a discussion about who might be Sonic’s next voice actor. Many long-time fans have even asked for the voice actors of Sonic the Hedgehog to return, and well, it looks like one in particular has already gotten his agent to contact Sega.
The guy we’re talking about is Ryan Drummond. If the name doesn’t sound, it’s the best known in the community for voicing Sonic in the original Dreamcast releases Sonic Adventure i Sonic Adventure 2. He was later also credited with games like Sonic Adventure DX: Director’s Cut i Sonic Advance 3.
During a recent live broadcast, Drummond confirmed that his agent had contacted Sega. This was revealed in response to a question about his possible return:
“I wish I could [say ‘yes’], but we still don’t know anything about it. You know everything I know … We don’t want to be a little embarrassed by this topic of conversation, but I have no problem … telling everyone … my agent contacted SEGA today, so I hope there will be a conversation. And we’ll see what happens after that. There are so many different factors that people don’t even realize they’re at stake here. “
While this will no doubt be exciting news for many, whether or not Sega would hire someone for such an iconic role is another matter. Do you want Drummond to resume his role as Sonic? Let us know below.
