Reviews of the Sonos Roam I could have taken the spotlight yesterday, but it looks like the portable speaker isn’t the only one the company has been working on. Dos Ikea FCC Records ia brazen Instagram story all but confirm that there are likely to be two new Symfonisk speakers on the way.
Two FCC Records of Ikea were detected yesterday for the first time the Virgin, but do not reveal much beyond the fact that Ikea works on two products with wireless capabilities. More revealing was a series of images posted on Ikea’s Instagram story telling, “It looks like Symfonisk,” ending with Sonos and the Ikea logo. This is not exactly subtle.
As an update, Symfonisk refers to the file of the speakers Ikea and Sonos were launched in 2019. Both had a dual function as speakers i furniture that fit all the aesthetics of Ikea. One was a dubious table lamp that cost $ 180. The other was a more affordable $ 99 speaker that could also serve as a mounted shelf.
The Virgin report states that one of the two FCC presentations will be an upgrade of the table lamp and will cost approximately the same price. The second product, however, will not be an update to the speakers on the shelves. Instead, the Virgin says she has seen a first image of what appears to be “wall art with a built-in speaker.” However, we do not know much more than the general concept and the fact that it has the code name “Titan”. Will it be like a digital frame but with a speaker connected? Maybe it’s a removable speaker that can be attached to multiple frames? Or is it just a solid piece of mural art that up close reveals itself like a giant speaker? Who can say.

What we do know is that previous Symfonisk speakers were clearly intended to be combined with home decor. They could be purchased as standalone devices or paired in stereo, and buying them was a way to engage in smart speakers with little commitment. It was a clever fusion of the strengths of the two companies and mutually beneficial. Previously, Ikea’s foray into the world of smart homes was limited to light bulbs connected to Tradfri. For Sonos, it was an easy way to hook new customers into their ecosystem at a relatively affordable price. If you bought a pair of speakers from the Symfonisk shelf and like them, you might be tempted to get a Sonos Beam, Playbase, or Arc sound bar. Or if you already had a Sonos sound bar, Symfonisk speakers were a cheaper option to add later satellites. It seems to have worked as well, as there are no scarcity on Reddit users contemplating this exact home theater setup.
While it seems strange that wall art is double as speakers, it is an orderly solution from an interior design standpoint. After all, if you’ve struggled to have a good living room, the last thing you want is a home theater system that’s a mess. cables difficult to hide. That said, though yes beautiful clear something is coming, Sonos is playing it coy.
“The collaboration is stronger than ever and we are excited about the products we work on together,” a Sonos spokesman told Gizmodo. “We look forward to sharing more when the time is right.”
