The Houston Texans continue to report to any team that they say they don’t switch to Deshaun Watson, league sources told ESPN, meaning they will continue the clash between the team and their franchised quarterback.
Watson still wants to leave Houston and no longer wants to play with the jeans, according to sources. But no matter how many calls they receive from Watson, the Texans insist they won’t change him, according to sources.
Other NFL teams have received that message and are now waiting to see if the Texans ’stance will change, but sources in the organization and the environment told ESPN that their position will not change.
As speculation continues to grow about Watson, the Texans have moved forward making far-reaching organizational changes. Last week, they fired football administration director Kevin Krajcovic, team manager Mike Parson and his staff and another longtime employee, Doug West.
Parson was said to have a close relationship with Watson, and those changes are not good for the players.
One player commented privately to ESPN that the Texans are eliminating employees who were not hired by Executive Vice President Jack Easterby and new CEO Nick Caserio, replacing them with employees who will owe them for their work.
These changes are not expected to help the situation with Watson, who has asked the Texans to change him.
Watson, who signed a four-year, $ 156 million contract extension in September, is hired during the 2025 season. He has a non-swap clause, however, given the length of his contract and the possibility of labeling him. for three years, the Texans could choose not to change it and have control of their rights during the 2028 season.
The commercial request comes after Watson was unhappy with the process used by the team to hire Caserio in early January.
