Sources – Los Angeles Lakers and F Kyle Kuzma accept $ 3 million three-year extension

Los Angeles Lakers striker Kyle Kuzma has agreed a three-year, $ 40 million extension, which includes a player option before the 2023-24 season, sources told ESPN.

Kuzma, 25, ended talks on his rookie extension on Sunday, sources said.

In a rare non-maximum contract novice extension that includes a player option, the deal allows Kuzma to become an unrestricted free agent at the maximum age at 28. This is an advantage if Kuzma exceeds its extension, which begins with the 2021-22 season.

He is competing for an initial job with the Lakers, who will begin defending their NBA title Tuesday night against the LA Clippers at the Staples Center.

In his first three NBA seasons with the Lakers, Kuzma has started 114 games and averaged 16.0 points. Kuzma was the 27th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

The deadline to sign rookie contract extensions for the 2017 draft phase ends Monday night, the eve of the start of the regular season.
