Sources: Oklahoma City Thunder change Hamidou Diallo to Detroit Pistons for Svi Mykhailiuk, second-round pick

The Oklahoma City Thunder have agreed to change guard Hamidou Diallo to the Detroit Pistons for guard Svi Mykhailiuk and the 2027 second-round pick, ESPN sources told Friday.

The appearance of sophomore guard Lu Dort had made Diallo dispensable, especially considering he will be a restricted free agent this summer. The Pistons consider Diallo to be a future base player and plan to work to sign him a new deal during the offseason, sources said.

Pistons general manager Troy Weaver was a Thunder executive when Diallo ranked 45th overall in the 2018 NBA Draft.

Diallo, 22, has averaged career highs in scoring (11.9), rebounding (5.2), assists (4.2) and minutes (23.8) this season for the Thunder.

The selection for the second round of 2027 for Oklahoma City will be made through the Houston Rockets, sources said.

Mykhailiuk, 23, is considered a better positional fit along the perimeter of the Thunder, and will have a chance to make an impression in Oklahoma City before becoming a restricted free agent this summer.

He was the Lakers ’47th overall pick in the 2018 draft, arriving in Detroit in the middle of his rookie season in one trade. This season he averages 6.9 points per game and 6.6 for his career.
