Trent Williams and the San Francisco 49ers have reached a six-year, $ 138 million deal that will make him the highest paid offensive line player in NFL history, sources told ESPN’s Dianna Russini .
The deal, agreed early Wednesday morning, has $ 55.1 million guaranteed and includes a $ 30.1 million signing bonus, sources told Russini.
The Niners are also seeking a deal with free agent center Alex Mack, a source told Russini.
Williams, widely considered the best free agent available this offseason, also discussed the deals with Kansas City and Chicago Bears bosses, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
But Kansas City signed Joe Thuney and Chicago signed Germain Ifedi, paving the way for Brown’s historic deal to return to San Francisco.
The 49ers traded for Williams on the third day of the 2020 NFL draft, sending a fifth-round pick and a 2021 pick to the Washington national football team.
Upon joining the Niners, they agreed to add a clause to their contract which meant they could not label him this offseason. Williams, 32, continued to stabilize his left attacking position instead of retired Joe Staley, starting 14 games and returning to his former Pro Bowl form in the process.
All of this happened in Williams ’first season after being left out all of 2019 while he was in a dispute with Washington over the handling of his injury issues and his contract.
At the end of the season, Williams stated that he hoped to sign again with San Francisco, but also acknowledged that he wanted to see what he could achieve in an open market premiere, as players in that position rarely get that far. . in free agency.
Since entering the league as No. 4 in the 2010 draft overall selection, Williams has started 133 games, getting eight berths from the Pro Bowl and the second All Pro team nodding in 2015.
