Southwest pilot accused of indecent exposure during flight

A former Southwest Airlines pilot is being charged with indecent exposure during a flight last year from Philadelphia to Orlando, Florida

DALLAS – Federal authorities have accused a former Southwest Airlines pilot of indecent exposure for an incident that is said to have occurred during a flight last August.

Michael Haak was the pilot in command of the plane during a Philadelphia flight to Orlando, Florida, according to a one-page document filed in Maryland Federal District Court.

According to the document, which was dated Friday, Haak exposed his genitals in acts that began, continued and ended while Flight 6607 on August 10 was in the air. The document did not indicate the circumstances and who could have witnessed the incident.

A spokeswoman for the Southwest said no passengers witnessed the incident; the pilots were the only people on board aware of the incident.

The airline spokeswoman said Haak left the airline before the company became aware of the incident. Ever since he learned of it, he said, Southwest has cooperated with investigators.

It has not been determined whether Haak has a lawyer.
