A replica of an assault rifle, small arms, several guns, two tasers and a machete were among the arsenal confiscated from a Spanish factory that was discovered to be producing 3D-printed weapons, police said Sunday.
Officers stormed the Santa Cruz de Tenerife illegal weapons workshop in the Canary Islands and arrested the owner, accused of illegal possession of weapons and explosives.
The first factory of its kind to be discovered in Spain also contained 3D printing equipment that worked and could manufacture gun cannons in just two minutes, the Spanish National Police said in a statement.
There were also manuals on terrorism, urban guerrilla warfare and how to make explosives at home using a 3D printer, as well as white supremacist literature and a pistol with the symbol of the German army during World War II.
A specialized team of dogs from the police TEDAX bomb squad inhaled chemicals that could be used to make explosives, according to the statement.
Police also found nine rounds of ammunition, two silencers, two pieces for rifle cannons and a plastic mold to make triggers, sights and other small weapon parts.
The operation took place on September 14 last year, but was kept secret by order of a judge, as is often the case in Spain, until police were authorized to disclose details on Sunday.
