KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Aledmys Diaz hit a single that pushed the lead to the tenth inning, and the Houston Stars defeated the Kansas City Royals 6-3 on Thursday to avoid a sweep in the Kansas City. series of four duels.
The Cuban finished 4-3, with a double and a pair of drives by Houston, leader of the Western Division of the American League. With full bases in the tenth chapter, Diaz fouled a Wade Davis throw, when the score was 3-2.
“I was looking for a shot right through the center,” Diaz said.

“We hadn’t been very good at extra ticket games,” Houston manager Dusty Baker acknowledged. “Now we’ve won one more game in those conditions.”
The pilot was thrilled by the closing of the regular campaign. The Stars have a two-and-a-half game advantage over Oakland in the Western Division of the American League.
“We’re just looking forward to reaching the finish line,” he indicated. “It’s a bit lacking, and we haven’t played at our best level yet.”
Ryan Pressly (5-1) worked the ninth episode without accepting scoring, for Houston. The Dominican Christian Javier gave perfect procedure to the tenth to provide his second rescue.
Davis (0-3) allowed two hits and gave away a ticket in the tenth inning, in which he failed to get a single out.
