MIAMI, Fla. – Some people who showed up on Thursday with medical notes were able to get vaccinated at FEMA state sites, but will be removed from Friday.
Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday expanded the eligibility of the COVID-19 vaccine in Florida, signing an executive order that now allows doctors to determine who is extremely vulnerable to COVID-19.
Under the addition of government Ron DeSantis to first-phase inoculation plans for Floridians, Executive Order 21-46 states that people a doctor considers to have a high-risk medical condition will now be able to obtain the COVID-19 vaccine.
The Florida Department of Health posted via Twitter a copy of the form a doctor must use to certify that someone is extremely vulnerable to the virus and can receive the vaccine. The rule that only those with the right forms will be able to get the vaccine comes into force on Friday. A medical note or prescription from the doctor’s notebook will also not be acceptable.

“Without a doubt, the last thing we wanted (Thursday) is for someone to miss a trip and not be taken care of and minimize any interruption. At the end of the day, we have vaccines and we want to get them out, ”said Mike Jachles, FEMA’s head of public information.
