The Washington State Department of Health says it now receives 100,000 doses of federal government vaccine each week, but that it is still not even close to the goal of 300,000 doses a week, which is what it takes to the state’s goal of vaccinating 45,000 people a day. Washington state currently vaccinates about a third of that number a day.
The state says there are about 1.7 million people in phase 1B, level 1, so this may take months to arrive. However, the following phases open before the previous phase ends.
Where to get vaccinated against COVID-19 in Washington state
“We are limited to 100,000 doses per week,” said Michele Roberts, acting deputy secretary of the State Department of Health.
Roberts added that the limited supply means that, in some places, appointments will have to be canceled as suppliers wait for more doses to arrive.
About 500,000 total doses of vaccine have been administered statewide. To date, most vaccines have been administered in health clinics and hospitals.
The best way to make sure you get a vaccine when you need to meet the requirements is to register at FindYourPhaseWa.org or use the list and map of eligible Department of Health providers to find out who to contact. your area.
Mass vaccination clinics are also established in each region. Four opened Monday in eastern and southern Washington. Upcoming locations will include Thurston, Kitsap and Whatcom counties.
“King, Pierce and Snohomish County all have their own mass vaccination sites,” Roberts said.
