The wife of a Wisconsin lawmaker who has sincerely criticized vaccine and mask warrants now encourages others to be shot after her husband was hospitalized with COVID-19-induced pneumonia and put on a ventilator.
Republican State Sen. Andre Jacques, 40, tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this month and was hospitalized on August 16th. A few days later he was put on a fan.
Recently, the senator authorized legislation that would prohibit the state from enforcing COVID-19 vaccines.
The senator was hospitalized just days after declaring the Wisconsin State Capitol maskless.
His wife Renee Jacque is asking others to get vaccinated after her husband and four other people in her family contracted the virus.
“While vaccination is a personal choice, I ask those eligible and able to receive the COVID-19 vaccine to consider trusting the medical professionals who recommend it,” he wrote in an email to WBAY-TV.
“These professionals and their colleagues are the ones we have also trusted to take care of my husband.”

Renee also reported that five of the eight family members, three of whom are fully vaccinated, also tested positive for the virus.

He told WBAY-TV that five of the eight family members contracted the virus, but did not say who.
He reported that three fully vaccinated family members contracted COVID-19 with mild symptoms. It is unclear whether the senator is vaccinated.
Jacque, of De Pere, was first elected to the State Assembly in 2010 and served four terms before being elected to the Senate in 2018.
Jacque sponsored bills that would have banned government officials or employers from demanding vaccines against COVID-19 or vaccination tests to receive services.
The Republican-controlled legislature passed both bills, which Democratic Gov. Tony Evers vetoed.
Jacque also opposed a state mask warrant that Evers put into effect, but was overturned in March by the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
Jacque’s brother also encourages others to get the vaccine. He said he was grateful for the prayers offered to his brother, but said getting the vaccine is more effective.
“While I appreciate prayers for my brother and understand that this is how they feel they are helping, I would ask them to know, use some of the help God has already given them to stay out of the same situation.” he told Star Tribune.
The Daily Mail contacted the senator’s office, but did not know anything prior to the publication.

Sixty-one percent of Americans have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The state of Wisconsin has vaccinated three million of its citizens
Republican State Representative Shae Sortwell told her Facebook followers on Aug. 20 that Jacque “seriously needs your prayers.”
Jacque’s hospitalization comes amid a wave of COVID-19 cases in Wisconsin blamed on the most contagious delta variant.
Wisconsin reported more than 4,000 new cases of COVID-19 on Aug. 30, with a seven-day average of nearly 2,000.
NBC 15 WMTV reported that Wisconsin experienced more than 10,000 new cases last week.
In recent months, the state has registered more than 50,000 new cases. More than two-thirds of those cases were added last month.

The state has completely vaccinated three million of its citizens. 54% of the state has received the first dose of vaccine, and just over 50% are completely vaccinated.
COVID-19 continues to rise in cases across the U.S., with more than 280,000 new cases reported yesterday.
Fifty-three percent of U.S. citizens have been completely vaccinated and 61 percent have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
