I always like to end the year with a look at Steam’s best-selling game list.
In addition to high-profile news such as Cyberpunk 2077 and surprise independent hits like Fasmophobia, 2020 was another year of games dominated by old flames from which it seems we cannot detach ourselves.
These were Steam’s “100 best games measured by gross revenue” in 2020:
Note: These games are grouped by Steam, but I have listed the individual games in each group alphabetically.

I’m also fascinated by the most played section of Steam – the games with the highest competing players of 2020. Cyberpunk i Between us they are represented on the list of more than 200,000 players at a time as you might expect, but so is it Life is weird 2. I’m really surprised to see that name appear.
Other interesting information via Daniel Ahmad |: A ton of us set aside time during the holidays for some (well more than “some”) PC games. This year, Steam had a maximum of 23 million concurrent users on Christmas Day, a significant step over 2019 (15.8 million users), 2018 (15.3 million) and 2017 (16.2 million).
If you’re curious, Steam also highlights news, early access graduates, the best of virtual reality, and controller games: “the best control games of the year as measured by daily active control players”.
You do, Steam. You do.
