The 32-year-old finished the game with 26 points and scored a triple with just over a minute to go to end his team’s 14-point deficit in the final quarter.
The Warriors, who had struggled in the first half, managed to hold on even though LeBron James almost saved the game for the Lakers on the buzzer.
“We kept calm. The second unit was amazing in both halves,” Curry said after the game, for ESPN.
“We had some momentum in the second half to give us a chance and take us down.”
The Lakers had looked dominant at the start of the game and had led up to 19 points in the first quarter.
But the Warriors came back in the second half and ended a five-win streak for the Lakers.
James, who finished with 19 points, found his team to be very bad.
“I think we just had some hard breaks, some calls against in the second half that slowed our pace,” he said after the game. “We couldn’t go back at a pace.”
Durant and Harden shine for the Nets
Elsewhere in the NBA, the Brooklyn Nets screamed for the 125-123 Milwaukee Bucks in a thriller.
Kevin Durant, who finished with 30 points, scored a triple-final to seal his team’s victory.
New Nets star man James Harden was also in impressive form and finished with 34 points, becoming the first player to score 30 points in his first two games in Nets history.
“It’s getting a lot of attention,” Nets coach Steve Nash said, talking about the impact the eight-time All-Star has had.
“Anyway, he becomes a better safe offensive team, and it’s amazing to read the game with the ball in his hands. It’s a luxury to have him, and we’ll put him in real shape and he’ll be even better.”
