Mets owner Steve Cohen did not stop on his Twitter statement announcing the dismissal of GM Jared Porter for sending an inappropriate stream of texts to a journalist in 2016.
Cohen delved into the social media platform on Tuesday when a user asked, “Caving to cancel the culture is nasty, now that [Porter’s] life has been ruined, what is your path to redemption, Mr. Cohen? ”
“I have no idea. I have an organization of 400 employees who matter more than anyone,” Cohen said answered. “It simply came to our notice then [have] it sets a poor example for the culture I am trying to build. “
Earlier on Tuesday, Cohen had announced his dismissal via tweets: “We killed Jared Porter this morning. In my initial press conference I talked about the importance of integrity and I really said it. There should be zero tolerance for this type of behavior.
Cohen handled his own “I Too” complaints to his Point72 asset management company before October was approved as the new owner of the Mets. Several former Connecticut-based hedge fund employees filed complaints of discrimination and misogyny last year at the state Human Rights and Opportunities Commission. These allegations sparked concern from some MLB owners in approving Cohen’s purchase of the $ 2.4 billion franchise, The Post reported in August.
