Supreme Court magistrates back in process of extradition of host MS-13, Blue

Although last June 10 he had given his endorsement, in yesterday’s session, the magistrate imposed by the official José Ángel Pérez Chacón, achieved his goal: to reverse the extradition.

The lawyer José Ángel Pérez Chacón, a magistrate imposed by Bukele in the Supreme Court of Justice and in the Constitutional Court, achieved his goal: to dilate and reverse the extradition of the host of the MS-13, Armando Eliú Melgar Díaz , called “Blue” or “Cliper”.

Yesterday it transpired, unofficially because the case is handled by the Supreme Court of Justice with great secrecy, that the Plenary Court had decided to take a step back in the extradition that the magistrates had endorsed last June 10, and they will now begin to review it again, i.e. from scratch, which will delay the process of extraditing the MS host.

Today’s newspaper tried to get the opinion of the President of the Supreme Court of Justice, Óscar López Jerez, but no answer was obtained.

López Jerez told the virtual newspaper El Far that the decision of June 10 on the extradition of the Blue was revoked.

“It was ordered that all the information be given to the five new magistrates so that, later, when it is ready, the point is agendaed,” Óscar López Jerez told El Far, this would involve starting to see the case from scratch and it undermines the agreement that the magistrates had already endorsed on June 10 to send the host to the United States where he is required for several serious crimes.

The U.S. embassy itself in the country had complained about the “slowness” in the extradition process of both sides; now the diplomatic headquarters has not ruled on the new decision.

Since the appointment of the magistrates imposed by Bukele, the magistrate José Ángel Pérez Chacón has been given the task of challenging and questioning the extradition of the two bands, the Blue and Manicomi, the latter was already denied extradition this week to the United States where he has to pay for crimes committed.

Thirteen of the magistrates voted to authorize the surrender of the Blue Captain to the US authorities, but Pérez Chacón asked for this decision to be reversed after the Court decided to extradite Edwin Maurici Rodríguez Torres. he embarked on a debate to ensure, according to them, that his constitutional rights as a Salvadoran were protected.

According to Act 48, Magistrate Pérez Chacón, stated that “there is no discussion in the project of these issues on direct application of the Constitution and in the light of the international conventions cited, as it has delved deeper into the aspects of criminal classification; therefore it proposes to reconsider the previous decision and work a greater foundation on the possibility of exercising control of constitutionality of the agreements “.

The Supreme Court has not given information on the cases of both sides and has put “reservation” to the cases so that the debates and positions of the magistrates before the two extraditions are not known.
