Suspect of triple murder in park of Caguas refused aid of the municipality

The mayor of Caguas, William Miranda Torres, revealed this morning that staff from his municipality and a private clinic came into contact a few weeks ago with the pedestrian suspected of killing three young people last night inside the premises of the old Moisty Skate Park.

According to Miranda Torres, the suspect was first seen spending the night on the abandoned property in December. The land, located on the side of the PR-52 at the exit to José Garrido Avenue, has been barren since the park closed in 2013.

The mayor has publicly expressed his condolences to the families of the three young men murdered.

“A protocol was activated and the Secretary of Human Development was integrated. A working group, from the municipality and the Sans corporation, was activated,” said Miranda Torres. “Upon accessing this person, the man went into the mountain and fled. Looks like I didn’t want the help “, Has argued by stating that the description he received of the subject is that he was a quiet person.

“There was someone who talked to him and offered to help,” he said.

The land, about 110 ropes, is owned by the municipality and was acquired with federal funds limiting its use to a park or recreational area. This restriction is what has prevented the city council, according to the mayor, from leaving the property. Miranda Torres described her as a “headache.”

The mayor argued that multiple investors have approached him to submit proposals, but none have prospered.

“I’ve already lost count. Hundreds of people have come. Up to a hotel to propose there, another time a little cinema, another time was to create a ‘container park’. They also proposed a stage to practice Gotcha and others have wanted to bring something more or less like what was there. Everyone has come up with good ideas, but no one comes with the guys. “, The mayor explained by indicating that since 2015 he is trying, unsuccessfully, to get the federal government to free the land from use restrictions.

“I’m not a real estate broker or realtor. My intention is to find a use for it as soon as possible and get out of it. What I find hard to maintain and what it represents is a headache,” he added.

Miranda Torres indicated that there is a “periodic”, but not continuous, surveillance of the land and that a clean-up was recently carried out in which the individual who is now being investigated for the triple crime was identified. He argued that he must distribute his security resources throughout the city and cannot leave people fixed on the property.
