Manuel de la O Cavazos, head of the Secretary of Health of Nuevo León reported on Monday that a person suspected of being a carrier of the new English strain had been detected among 30 confirmed cases, so a sample was sent to the Institute of Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference (Indre).

The Secretary of Health said that when the viral genome was sequenced a similarity of 96.3 percent was found with strain B117, So it was decided to send a test to Indre, which so far has not been confirmed or ruled out and is still awaiting results.

However, on Tuesday Manuel de la O noted that the patient was a 60-year-old man that he was receiving medical care at Pemex Hospital, and that in addition to age, he had two comorbidities: diabetes and hypertension, which made it difficult for him to be cared for.

A case pending in Tamaulipas

The first case is still intubated in Tamahulipas, but after its formation a screening of other possible cases was carried out, so three people were identified who traveled with him from the CDMX to Tamaulipas, two of they came out negative for the virus.

A third person remains a suspect, This is because she showed symptoms of a virus, and if confirmed, tests will be done to see that she is the carrier of the new strain, but for now she is waiting for results.

It should be remembered that this new variant of the strain was detected in September in the UK and although it is no more deadly than the others, it is 70 percent more contagious, which is believed to have caused a serious country health problem for Queen Elizabeth II.
