Symerbank 2077 Daves warns streamers to turn off all music to avoid TMCA strikes

CD Project Reds (CDPR)’s much-anticipated new role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077 has a slightly harder release, and you can now add copyright issues when streaming to its release day hiccups list. The developer says that until a bug is ready, any potential Twitch streamers should turn off all game music on their channel to avoid any strikes. Before Cyberbunk 2077 officially launches in all regions, the developer warned potential streamers on Wednesday that a particular song (what CDPR did not say) during the game’s “brainwashing” scenes could trigger a digital millennium copyright strike. Even if you use a specific game system designed to replace copyrighted music for this exact reason. It has come to our notice that there are additional events in the game that could cause a TMCA strike on your channel. Troubleshooting is ongoing, but until then, we’d like to ask you to disable music in the game settings. We apologize for any inconvenience. https://t.co/SS0yhyPrMo— Cyberbunk 2077 (yCyberpunkGame) December 10, 2020 Cyberbunk 2077 In the world the brain is a kind of memory replay. This is a copyrighted song that appears as part of the main story feature in both scenes you play, and some types of errors prevent that song from changing with the game system’s preferences. CDPR advised to turn off the sound during the game’s blindness parts to avoid getting a TMCA strike on your channel. But now CDPR says the issue may be bigger than it first felt, and streamers are advised to turn off the game altogether due to “additional events in the game that could cause a DMCA strike on your channel”. CDPR says a bug is underway, but disabling all music (copyrighted and original tracks) is not the best situation when streaming the game to avoid triggering auto-detection systems that protect copyrighted works. The developer is releasing a patch soon to fix the problem, because without it, any twitch streams of Cyberpunk 2077 would be too quiet in the future.
