Takeaway books from Chicago’s preseason loss

Trubisky was the plot of the week and he and the Bills came out wanting to prove a point.

The former bear had 20 for 28, throwing for 221 yards and a marker. It is true that he seemed solid on his return to Soldier Field, and though I take nothing from his performance, his success was rather the defense of the Bears, in my opinion.

When they saw Trubisky play on Saturday, Bears fans should have seen a family vision. He was throwing at his first reading on almost every play, holding the ball for just a second or two before throwing it and keeping many of the short throws with simple sloping patterns. The designed game plan suited his helm directly. So why couldn’t the Bears ’defense stop him and Bills’ crime?

For much of the afternoon, the lack of defensive effort was worrisome. The boys didn’t face each other well, letting the players bounce off of them, and many looked like they didn’t want to be out there. While there were a handful of starters, it’s no excuse. These players try to keep the team still. Some of the backups are not guaranteed, and is that the effort you put out?

Defensive coordinator Sean Desai has been praised for his insight on the part of many players on this field. Can you teach players how they should wrap a ball carrier? We pray that the coaching staff has this under control because preseason or not, you should come prepared to stop at least one runner or a receiver.
