Taliban forces killed a major opposition leader after he was shot at him and his driver while his car was stopped at a checkpoint.
Rohullah Azizi, brother of former Afghan Vice President Amrullah Saleh, had led resistance forces in Panjshir province. The country’s last anti-Taliban stronghold fell to Islamists earlier this week.

“As we hear at the moment, the Taliban shot him and his driver in control.” Azizi’s nephew, Shuresh Saleh, told the Associated Press.
According to reports, the video circulating online shows a Taliban fighter firing on members of the anti-Taliban resistance recently captured in the province.
