On Tuesday on “The Late Show,” Taylor Swift insisted that her 2008 song “Hey Stephen” wasn’t about Colbert, though she seemed to know a lot about the comedian.
And don’t be fooled by his Colbert-oriented viewing board for the song; he says the melody was really about a different Stephen.
“Don’t flatter yourself. My song “Hey Stephen” is no more about you than my album “1989” is that same year you spent tables waiting for lunch at Scoozi, an Italian restaurant in upstate Chicago that, by the way, a really amazing slice of pizza, ”Swift said.
But Colbert didn’t have it.
“As much as I insist that‘ Hey Stephen ’isn’t about me, I still have the strong feeling that it is,” he said.
Swift pointed out that it was something he needed to work on his own.
