Ted Cruz says “Avengers,” “Watchmen,” make “rabid environmentalists” the bad guys

In an interview with Daily Wire host Michael Knowles, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) stated that some films seem to portray “rabid environmentalists” as the “bad guys.”

“Have you looked at how many movies how often rabid environmentalists are the bad guys?” Cruz asked Knowles.

Either Thanos or go to ‘Watchmen.’ You know, where the view on the left is that people are a disease. They understand on the Malthusian line that there are too many people in the world … and everything would be better if we would have fewer people, ”Cruz said.

The Malthusian theory Cruz referred to states that as the population increases, there will not be enough food or other resources to sustain the population.

Cruz said Thanos, the villain of “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame,” wanting to end 50 percent of the entire life of the universe is an example of rabid environmentalists. Cruz got some changes on Twitter for his suggestion.

“Watchmen” writer and producer Lila Byock responded to Cruz on Twitter, saying, “What are we literally talking about?”

“I’m really surprised by what Cruz knows about the Avengers. And going back to the original Watchmen book for Veidt’s plan to sacrifice millions of New Yorkers to achieve a larger global plan, ”tweeted Mark Millar, a comic book writer and president of Netflix’s division. “I feel like I’m hallucinating this interview at the end of Day 300 …”

Cruz has disagreed with Democrats on environmental issues, with the latest clash over President Biden’s proposal to halt work on the Keystone XL project.

“The Biden administrator’s message to U.S. workers: If you’re an energy industry worker, look for a new job,” Cruz tweeted.
