TThe Nicholas ropical storm is the 14th named storm of the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season and formed in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico last Sunday before tracking just east of the southern tip of the Gulf of Mexico. Texas, and finally landed on Tuesday. Nicholas caused heavy rains, strong winds and a storm surge, which caused flooding.
In the western Pacific, Super Typhoon (equivalent to a Category 5 Atlantic hurricane) Chanthu experienced a rapid intensification last week, with winds of more than 160 mph at most. Chanthu made landfall in the northern Philippines on Saturday and was one of the strongest storms so far this year.
The storm weakened as it approached the south and east coast of Taiwan on Sunday, saving all its strength, but it still caused heavy rainfall, strong winds and dangerous waves that caused coastal flooding and caused some conditions that they endanger life. Chanthu tracked along the east coast of China and into South Korea before heading east to Japan.
In Europe, two people died last Friday when a tornado hit the small Italian island of Pantelleria, between Sicily and Tunisia, in the Mediterranean. Several others were injured when the tornado overturned the cars and ripped off the roofs, according to the Italian civil protection agency.
