Texas investor uses GameStop earnings to help sick children – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Amid the Wall Street drama surrounding GameStop and Robinhood, some investors involved in the short sale of GameStop use their income to do good deeds for others.

An investor, who wished to remain anonymous, on Thursday handed over 10 Nintendo switches purchased at GameStop locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to the city medical hospital.

The investor said his efforts were made possible thanks to GME’s gains.

Wall Street has been shaken this week by a campaign organized by small investors to acquire large hedge funds by increasing shares of Grapevine-based GameStop shares and other troubled retailers.

The campaign began on Reddit and other discussion boards, as small investors were encouraged to buy GameStop shares, forcing larger players such as hedge funds to hedge their bets by buying the shares, further increasing plus the price.

The anonymous investor who donated the Nintendo Switches said he earned “a good amount through r / WallStreetBets in this fun GME trade” and was inspired to return “in an equally fun way.”

The investor said his hope is to convince other people on the Reddit forum r / WallStreetBets to return in a similar way and turn the short sale of GameStop into a definitive force.
