The creators of Thalaivi, star of Kangana Ranaut, on Thursday unveiled new images of Arvind Swami’s gaze as an actor turned politician, Dr. MG Ramachandran. The photos came out on the anniversary of the death of the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu, affectionately called MGR.
Directed by AL Vijay, Thalaivi is based on the life of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, with Kangana rehearsing the title role of the film. Popularly known as Puratchi Thalaivar and Makkal Thilagam, MGR played a very important role in Jayalalithaa’s life and career.
The first image of Arvind from the film was revealed in January this year.
The film’s creative producer Brinda Prasad said in a statement: “MGR has been one of the most respected and loved figures in the population of Tamil Nadu. We, as creators, had to be extremely careful about presenting such a tall personality. We have made a conscious effort to not only achieve the look but also imitate the characteristics of the legendary hero and Arvind Swami has been the right choice for the role. ”

Producer Shaailesh R Singh added: “It was overwhelming to witness the warm response to the first glances of the film, whether for Kangana’s portrayal of Jayalalithaa or our first MGR appearance from Arvind Swami. With each recognition, our responsibility to deliver better and meet expectations has been increasing and, when we decided to present the appearance of Arvind Swami as MGR in his later stage as a politician, we have been extremely diligent in the details. We hope that the public will continue to sweep their love with the film and accept our attempt to pay homage to the legends of South Indian cinema and politics.
Thalaivi has music by GV Prakash Kumar, while renowned Bjarangi Bhaijhaan writer Vijayendra Prasad has been stringed to oversee the writing process.
