Police say a 2-year-old boy was dropped off at a Mississippi Goodwill drop-off location Monday with a bag of clothes and a note.
Southampton Police Department officers found the youth around 10 a.m. and transferred him to child protection services, officials said.
Surveillance footage from the Southampton location showed the boy fleeing on one person’s feet.
The FBI joined the investigation. Police say a suspect was taken into custody and interrogated in Memphis, Tennessee, around 3:30 p.m.
Authorities did not immediately provide any information about the suspect, or confirmed that the boy was abandoned.
The Southhaven Police Department wrote on Facebook that the boy was “well, well cared for, and will be reunited with his family when CBS decides it is appropriate.”
