The 2021 Presidential Day snowstorm is forming, arriving tonight

DETROIT – A winter weather warning is in effect in Detroit and all of southeast Michigan until Tuesday at noon.

There is a flood warning on the St. Clair.

The 2021 Valentine’s Day storm bringing snow and ice to Texas and the South is becoming the 2021 President’s Day snowstorm in Detroit and southeast Michigan. Two turns of snow are due; one in the morning and the other from Monday to late Tuesday.

There are two rounds of snow reaching Detroit and southeastern Michigan from late tonight until Tuesday morning.

The first round comes after midnight on Sunday. Night lows will be shown in higher digits as there will be light snow showers throughout the region. Much will disappear after breakfast, Monday morning, with 1 to 3 inches possible by mid-morning.

On Presidents Day, Monday afternoon will be mostly cloudy and very cold. Highs for average teens.

The second round of snow has an impact on the region on Monday afternoon, Monday evening, Monday night and Tuesday morning. The snow will be more extensive and intense. By the end of Tuesday morning, there will be an additional 3 to 7 inches.

A total of 6 to 9 or 10 inches of snow is possible. The largest amounts of snow (7 to 10 inches) are reserved for the areas closest to the Great Lakes and the Detroit River and the St. Louis River. Clair (from Port Huron to Mount Clemens, Monroe and Luna Pier). The lowest amounts of snow, which will still be significant (5 to 8 inches), will be in neighborhoods much further north and west of Detroit (Livingston County via Flint, Lapeer and Sandusky).

Tuesday will be very cold, with afternoon temperatures in the upper teens.

Wednesday will be partly sunny and cold. Daytime temperatures will be down in the 1920s.

There is a chance of snow showers on Thursday. Highs will be close to 30 degrees.

Announcements

On Friday and Saturday there will be a new mix of clouds and sun. The highs will be in the mid-20s.
