Jeff Bezos is the founder of Amazon and is, according to Forbes, the richest man in the world. However, when hiring a new employee, it is quite simple: since 1998 the same 3 questions are asked in a job interview.

We know this thanks to the publication of CNBC and it recovers a letter that Bezos sent to shareholders more than 20 years ago. “One of his mottos is that when you hire someone, he or she must raise the standard for the next hiring,” said Nicholas Lovejoy, the fifth employee in Amazon’s history who joined in 1995. 1 – Will you admire this person ?. “In my case, I always tried, albeit with a lot of effort, to work only with people I admired. Encourage those who work here to be just as demanding with their peers,” Bezos says.

2 – The person will raise the average effectiveness of the group to which he joins ?. “The level should always keep going up. Visualize the company within 5 years. At this point, any of us should say he’s happy to have joined, because the level has gone up a lot,” he adds.

3 – In what area could this person be a superstar ?. “Here’s a person who’s a national spelling champion. And you’ll tell me, does that help you with your daily chores? Probably not, but it makes everyone’s job more fun, as you can throw occasional challenges at them. You want people like that because they promote innovative thinking, ”he concluded.
