The $ 300 COVID-19 unemployment payments are slowly giving way to Michigan residents

The $ 300 owed by many Michiganders is part of it the $ 900 billion stimulus package. State officials said the money is slowing down as far as Michigan is concerned.

UIA officials admit there were problems with the release of funds.

“These workers should be assured that they will not lose any benefits and will receive all the dollars to which they are entitled once the programs are fully implemented,” a UIA spokesman said.

According to the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, the state began issuing payments to about 365,000 claimants this weekend.

Pandemic unemployment compensation payments run from December 27, 2020 to March 13, 2021. They offer an additional $ 300 in weekly benefits to Michigan claimants who were adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Claimants do not have to take steps to receive the additional payments. They will be paid automatically after certification.

“The UIA team worked tirelessly to ensure that Michigan was one of the first states to implement the PUC program,” said UIA Acting Director Liza Estlund Olson. “Now that we have received additional USDOL guidance, we are committed to implementing the remaining federal PUA and PEUC programs as quickly as possible to raise money.”
