On Tuesday, at Apple’s “California streaming” event, the company withdrew the Apple Watch Series 7, the latest flagship of its portable line. The Series 7 goes on sale on Friday, September 17, with prices starting at $ 399. However, Apple has not set a shipping date, stating that the 7 Series will begin shipping in late fall.
Apple Watch Series 7: design and display
The Apple Watch Series 7 watch features 41mm and 45mm screens, the largest models Apple has ever made. The company says the 7 Series screen is 20 percent larger than the 6 Series and 50 percent larger than the Apple Watch SE. However, the watch itself has not increased much: Apple achieves the 1 mm increase by reducing the bezel to 1.7 mm.
Apple launches several new features that take advantage of the larger screen. There is now a full screen keyboard that supports the QuickPath input method. And several new watch faces show more information. Apple also made the buttons on some 7 Series apps bigger so they were easier to press. And Apple claims that the 7-Series Always-On mode is 70% brighter on the inside.

The 7 Series is available in five aluminum housing finishes, three of which are new (green, midnight blue and starlight), while the other two are Blue and Product (RED). The corners of the watch are more rounded than in the 6 Series and Apple says the screen has a “unique refractive edge that makes the faces and applications of the full screen watch look perfectly connected to the curvature of the case.”
Apple calls the 7 Series its most durable watch, with IP6X durability (a 6 rating indicates it is dustproof). It also has a new crack-resistant screen and a 50-meter water resistance like the 6 Series.
The 7 Series works with old Apple Watch bands and will also have Nike and Hermès editions available. The Nike model includes a “cool” Sport Loop band and a new Nike Bounce watch face. The Hermès watch is presented in two new styles, Circuit H and Gourmette Double Tour.
Apple Watch Series 7: Faster Charging
Apple says the Apple Watch Series 7 offers improved charging speed using its magnetic charger. During the event, Apple said the 7 Series is 33 percent faster, and with 8 minutes of charging, the 7 Series will last 8 full hours of sleep tracking.

Apple Watch Series 7: New Fitness Features
Apple continues to add more fitness features with each new Apple Watch. The 7 Series now has features for cyclists and can start an outdoor cycle workout if you haven’t set it up at first. You also have the ability to start and stop tracking synchronized with the trip, so you get accurate training metrics. And with the growing popularity of e-bikes, the cycling training algorithm has been updated to be able to detect when you use pedal assistance or not.
Drop detection was introduced in the Apple Watch Series 4 and, with watchOS 8, has now been updated to be able to detect when someone falls during a workout, including cycling. If the clock detects a sharp drop, it will display a screen that will allow you to call emergency services.
Apple also includes more features that work with the Fitness + service. Fitness + will feature Pilates and a set of workouts to prepare for the snow season, as well as guided meditations. All Apple Watch Series 7 users will receive three months of Fitness + for free.
Apple Watch Series 7: price and availability
The Apple Watch Series 7 starts at the same $ 399 and will be available for pre-order starting Friday, September 17th. However, Apple has not yet announced when the watch will be shipped, only saying it will be available “later this fall.” Apple also continues to sell the Apple Watch 3 for $ 199 and the Apple Watch SE for $ 279.
