The future awaits us and many have wondered what our planet will be like in the coming years.
Architect Chris Lawson could have the answer, at least when it comes to residences. For all environments, CK Architectural anticipates the types of futuristic houses we could live in for years.
Specifically, Lawson sets the floor plan for four different types of conditions: life on Mars, life underwater, life in the clouds, and – swallow – an underground sub-apocalyptic future.
With the help of real estate development company GoodMove and a 3-D designer, the sketches of the houses created by Lawson have come to life.
Each home is built and designed with materials and shapes to support the elements of its environment.

Start on Mars

While the red planet is out of our reach right now, game changers like Elon Musk and his company, SpaceX, make this idea a real possibility for humanity. With the help of NASA, which plans its first manned mission to Mars for 2030, this house can turn science fiction into a very fast-paced science fact.
The design of the house would be partly visible and partly underground, providing structural support and protection against harsh outdoor weather. It would also protect from too much light.
With power and survival at the forefront of design, Lawson explained to GoodMove how bubble-like domes would allow for an easier layer from the top and bottom. Crop farming can be carried out inside these domes and solar panels installed outside the domes will favor self-sufficient energy.
The material would be made of titanium, durable plastic or glass to be able to support the weight of the structure and make the dome work, according to GoodMove.
Stop by the house

While we still expect flying cars, it’s not entirely out of the realm to expect flying houses to follow soon, given the myriad of technological advances taking place today, Lawson said.
With epic views of the sky, these homes will surely be the dream of Instagram’s influence. Who needs a penthouse in the sky, when you can really live in it?
According to GoodMove, the overall shape would probably resemble the drones we see today, only ten times larger with giant propellers that would rotate continuously to create the airflow needed to keep that flight home.
The construction should be placed carefully, so as to ensure an equal weight distribution so that the house can maintain balance in the air. Probably important.
Many windows will be installed throughout the house to ensure beautiful views at sunset, but you should protect yourself from UV to avoid sun damage (as close as possible to them).
Apocalyptic house

If we ever find ourselves living in an apocalypse, houses may need to be a little more robust.
And Lawson and GoodMove have dreamed of a much nicer version of what these houses could be than future post-apocalyptic movies like “The Matrix.”
The home should be built underground to provide optimal security, so any opportunity to let light in is crucial. Hatch-like windows to outcrop domes or windows built on hillside are options. And because fresh air is vital, future designers would consider some sort of external ventilation duct or filter to filter the air.
Mirrors would also be used to let in light, cultivate and cultivate crops for food.
Marine life

They are not exactly the living standards of the “Mermaid” underwater, but these pods would be an ideal solution for aquatic life.
Given that about 71% of the Earth is covered by water, it wouldn’t be a big surprise if we adapted to living away from the earth at some point.
Similar to the home of Mars, the domes would be the ideal structure to facilitate flotation. It is likely that the materials are made of glass or plastic to hold water.
With some of the structures sitting under the waves, access to the elevator would also be necessary for people to return to the surface, according to GoodMove.
