The barricade situation ends for Clawson, a teenager in critical condition

CLAWSON, Mich. – A barricade situation in Clawson ended on Sunday after the suspect was found dead inside the house.

Police said the suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to authorities, police were dispatched shortly after 2:15 p.m. to a home at 14 Mile Road, near Main Street and Washington Avenue, according to reports of a shooting. They were accompanied by officers from the Troy and Royal Oak police departments.

Officers found a teenage girl who had been shot by her stepfather and was taken to a hospital, where she appears in critical condition.

“She was a young lady involved. I saw her taken out of the house by three police officers, “said neighbor Ryan Henahan. “I understand they shot him in the back.”

Police said the suspect had fled a neighbor’s house and barricaded himself inside his home.

Police said a neighbor trying to help the girl was shot in the leg and taken to a hospital.

“I think, to my knowledge, there was a lady who lived next to me, she got shot in the knee,” Henahan said.

When police were unable to communicate with the suspect, the Oakland County SWAT team, negotiators and a psychologist were called to the scene for help.

Police said they were unable to make any communication with the suspect and, after several hours, the suspect’s body was found using the drone.
