WASHINGTON – President Joe Biden says the administration hopes to send millions of masks to people across the country “very soon.”
Such a plan was considered and eliminated by the Donald Trump administration.
Biden did not provide details, including costs, time and type of mask being shipped. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The president confirmed the plan during a virtual roundtable on Tuesday with four black essential workers: a St. Louis firefighter. Louis and EMT, a Chicago pharmacist, an employee of the daycare center in Columbus, Ohio, and a grocery store district manager in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Biden has asked everyone to wear face masks for the first 100 days of his tenure. It also required the use of masks in federal buildings and on public transportation.
