BioWare art director Matt Rhodes spent the holidays hanging some interesting concept art Revolver, a project that never saw the light of day.
Revolver era first conceived as a follow – up to 2005 Jade Empires which went through several iterations. Eventually, the developers abandoned the old Chinese science fiction setup and moved from a martial arts role-playing game to a more open world before the game quietly canceled around 2009. Fortunately, still there is a lot of initial conceptual art for the project. .
“Between 2005 and 2008 I worked at Project Revolver“, Rhodes, whose publications were first brought to our attention Eurogamer, writes on Instagram. “He begins his life as a sequel to Jade Empires, Revolver it evolved and changed course many times throughout its development. It was recently revealed in more detail in the book Bioware: Stories and Secrets of 25 Years of Game Development To celebrate, I examined the archives and took away 15 years of dust from some of my favorite pieces from this project.
Since then, BioWare has focused almost entirely Massive effects i Dragon Age franchises (let’s not talk about it Hymn), but I like to imagine a world where Jade Empires it was successful enough to provide a reliable third column to its portfolio.
