The Toronto Blue Jays have not given up on their mission to sign stellar Puerto Rican receiver Yadier Molina.
According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, the Canadian organization is still in contact with the 38-year-old free agent, who has 17 seasons in the Major Leagues, all with St. Louis.
“The expectations are that he will return to St. Louis, where he is an icon. But nothing is assured and there are still a couple more teams at stake,” Heyman’s tweet reads.
The Blue Jays are still interested in legendary catcher Yadier Molina and have been in touch. He was expected to return to St. Louis, where he is an icon. But nothing has been done and there are still a couple of teams in play.

Last week, Molina confirmed to El Nou Dia that Sant Lluís offered him a one-year contract. The nine-time Golden Glove in the National League is betting on a two-season pact.
Jon Morosi, also from MLB Network, reported last Friday that Molina hopes to sign with the Cardinals once his participation in the Caribbean Series ends in Mazatlán, Mexico. The doradeño is active with the Creoles of Caguas. However, Molina’s agent, Melvin Román, told this newspaper on the same day that talks with Sant Lluís have made slight progress.
Toronto looks like an attractive plaza for Molina. Led by Puerto Rican Charlie Montoyo, a finalist for the 2020 Leader of the Year award, the Blue Jays recently signed star gardener George Springer for five years. In addition, the ninth features promising players such as Cavin Biggio, Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Its starting receiver is Danny Jansen.
The Blue Jays returned to the postseason last year for the first time since 2015.
St. Louis, meanwhile, made a mega change to bring in stellar third baseman Nolan Sorrejat of the Colorado Rockies. Also, they signed for a year to veteran opener Adam Wainwrigth. However, they lost to second baseman Kolten Wong, who reached a two-year deal with the Milwaukee Brewers.
