Christian Wood, who is expected to start at the Houston Rockets Center this season, has recently signed on, temporarily sidelining the list as “left elbow pain”.
The 6-foot-10 big man will not play against San Antonio in the pre-home season on Tuesday night, the third of four exhibitions for rockets this month. However, Wood believes injury is not a big concern after Monday’s training and will play in Thursday’s final.
“It’s something light, abrasive, nothing crazy,” Wood told reporters. “Hopefully, I’m talked to the doctors. I can come back on Thursday.”
Rockets head coach Stephen Silas said Friday he hoped Wood would be removed from practice on Monday, but he only became a part-timer. In his absence, DeMarcus starts at the Cousins Center.

The 2020-21 regular season starts on Wednesday, December 23rd, and neither Wood nor the team have raised any concerns that the 25-year-old’s availability could be in jeopardy. It is not clear when or how the minor injury occurred, Wood said, noting that it was discovered overnight. Since Wood is the right hand, it’s not his shooting elbow that’s lucky.
Wood averaged 13.1 points (56.7% FG) and 6.3 rebounds in 21.4 minutes per game in Detroit last season. He lands in an expanded role as a starter in Houston, and the Rockets believe in his continued growth alongside playmakers such as James Horton and John Wall.
