Max Hall makes an appearance
BYU has not won Utah in nine straight games. That’s part of why Saturday’s game between the two rivals is so important.
Jaren Hall started against the Utes, hoping to help break Utah’s streak. But there was actually another Hall.
Former Cougars QB Max Hall (unrelated to Jaren Hall) was featured on the ESPN show. He was the last quarterback to beat a Utes team.
With the evolution of the game, both rooms may have reasons to celebrate.

The previous play allowed the situation that caused the touchdown. Hall sank for a few seconds and found receiver Keanu Hill to complete 33 yards.
Nacua was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct after removing his helmet to celebrate the touchdown. The penalty helped the Cougars lose the extra point because it was from further afield.
BYU has 179 total offense yards compared to Utah’s 149.. The Cougars turned six of their 11 attempts into third downs.
The cougars have a fourth and short stop
The Utes were in the red zone on the fourth descent with only 2 yards to go to get a first descent. Utah opted for a running shot in shotgun formation and was stopped by the Cougars defense.

The Utes start with two straight business losses

(Chris Samuels | The Salt Lake Tribune) Samson Nacua, Brigham Young Cougars receiver, carries a Ty Jordan memorial flag on the Utah Utes side line before playing football on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Provo .
The memory of the late Utes player Ty Jordan will be honored by Utah throughout the season in several ways. One is to have a spot for Jordan in the team’s new locker room.
And even though Saturday’s game is at LaVell Edwards Stadium, the Cougars welcomed Utah to throw a pre-flag game that said LLTJ, meaning “Long live Ty Jordan.”
But that was not all. Nacua, who used to play in Utah, introduced Utah quarterback Cam Rising. Then the flag ended up in the hands of corner Aaron Lowe with the flag.
