The COVID-19 vaccine is coming to Utah

The Govt-19 vaccine has arrived in Utah, Fox 13 has confirmed.

A spokesman for Intermount Healthcare said the dose of the Pfizer vaccine arrived early Monday morning. It will be offered to leading healthcare professionals who treat COVID-19 patients directly.

Intermount Healthcare scheduled a news conference Monday morning about its launch plans.

The University of Utah Health said it expects to export its quantities by Tuesday.

Five hospitals in the state (LDS, University, Intermountain, Dixie and Utah Valley) will receive the vaccine because of Utah’s Department of Health and the Governor’s Govt-19 Unified Command program, which has cold storage facilities that it can handle.

Two doses of the vaccine will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. It will then extend to other health workers, long-term care workers and residents, teachers and other essential workers. To boost expectations, the Utah Department of Health has warned that July may be the time when the vaccine will be widely available to the general public.
