Mike McCarthy has already beaten the Dallas Cowboys coach in his first season, but his job is not in danger, the pre-office said.
Team vice-captain Stephen Jones, son of owner Jerry Jones, said Monday that McCarthy will not be sacked following an injury-plagued season for the Cowboys (4-9).
“There will be no change with coach McCarthy.” 105.3 said Jones on The Fan show. I wonder if anyone would question Mike with this unprecedented situation that everyone was in. On top of that – no one makes excuses – but there are some real challenges for us in the injury department.
“If you look at his record and his descent he has won year after year and year after year. This ship will be justified quickly and we are very confident that Mike will be the leader of this team.”
The Cowboys have been without a quarterback since suffering a displaced ankle at the end of the 5th week against the Giants. Backup Andy Dalton missed a concussion and Reserve / Govt-19 list for three weeks.
The Cowboys have gone 2-2 since Dalton rejoined the lineup on November 22, winning 30-7 on Sunday in their return to Cincinnati.
McCarthy, who won the Super Bowl with Green Bay to capture the 2010 season, signed a five-year deal in January.
