“Saturday Night Live” didn’t make you laugh on West 49th Street, as dozens showed up with megaphones and signs to protest a previous week’s joke about vaccinations in Israel.
The crowd, led hours before the show aired by former state assembly Dov Hikind, sang “Shame on the TV Channel.” and “Anti-Semitism is not fun!” outside NBC’s West 49th Street entrance.
Comedian Michael Che had provoked negative reactions when he joked about a recent segment of “Weekend Update”: “Israel reports that half of its population has been vaccinated. I’ll guess it’s half Jewish.”
“It’s amazing that they haven’t apologized yet,” Hikind told The Post.
“They did something so blatant, so horrible, that I’m personally fed up and tired of a major network like the NBC network dedicated to spreading hatred. That’s basically what they did.”
He promised to continue “all that needs to be done” until the issue is recognized.
“I’m not going to shut up about these things that really endanger the Jewish people,” he said.
