New Denver Broncos GM George Paton said in his initial statement announcing his hiring that he plans to be “aggressive but not reckless” in building the roster. Just over a day later, Paton told the team’s website that the Broncos will be “involved in all the agreements.”
This sets the stage for the latest rumors of Deshaun Watson’s commercial rumors. Although Watson has not yet officially requested a trade in jeans, ESPN He is reporting that sources close to Houston believe the disgruntled quarterback has played his last chance for the team that ranked him No. 12 in 2017.
This rumor has led to the creators of odds starting to seriously bet on where Watson could land later, if indeed he is traded. Seconds SportsBetting.com, the Broncos have a 5/1 chance of landing the three-time Pro Bowler, who is the fourth-best in the NFL.

The teams ranked ahead of Denver in the Watson commercial draw are the New York Jets (2/1), Miami Dolphins (3/1) and Chicago Bears (4/1). Again, the Broncos reach No. 4 with a 5/1 probability, followed by the Indianapolis Colts at No. 5 with an 8/1 probability.
What once seemed like a pipe dream, at best, has suddenly become more realistic. 10 days ago, Watson’s notion of Texan trade was unthinkable.
After all, the Texans may have had an unforgettable season, but it has only taken them a few months to give Watson a four-year contract extension worth $ 156 million in new money. It earned $ 73.716 billion fully guaranteed upon signing.
This is a big compromise with QB, which is what made the Houston owner’s behavior even more baffling. Allegedly, the McNair family was told by Watson that he would help select the next GM and coach of the jeans.
Houston hired former Patriots staff tsar Nick Caserio to back up the Brinks truck to make it possibly the highest paid GM in the NFL. Watson was not consulted about the rental.
That’s what triggered Watson and now the jeans are pickled. Time will tell that Houston can save this thing with 25-year-old Watson, but changing it, based on the latest insider reports, has become a different possibility, so much so that gamblers are betting. .
Is this level of box office exchange something Paton would have in his first low season as GM of Broncos? I have my doubts, especially because of the king’s rescue that Watson would have to be removed from the hands of Houston.
Paton can check to see what Houston’s question will be, but suffice it to say, the Broncos should be willing to not only absorb Watson’s strong contract, but also give up the proverbial farm. This move would require saying goodbye to at least two first-round draft picks, if not three, and maybe even a couple of seconds.
“You really have to know where you are as a team and that, in turn, determines your aggression,” Paton said on the team site last week. “But I think you’re involved in all the agreements out there, and then you can discuss and collaborate and determine if you want to make that leap. It’s very important to be involved in everything so you don’t miss an agreement that can so we’ll be aggressive ( involved), but that doesn’t mean we jump. ”
Meanwhile, people in Denver like Woody Paige report that Drew Lock will once again be the owner of the Broncos and that John Elway and Vic Fangio are campaigning for Paton to play there. One more year with Lock under the center is the likely end result, but if Paton looks around the league, analyzes the 2021 draft category and finally decides that Lock is the best option, hopefully the Broncos sign a veteran more competent and proven to support you up.
As for Watson, it’s a situation to control. But Broncos fans really, and I mean really, shouldn’t wait.
