Since it was revealed last year, many have been calling the new one God of war PlayStation 5 sequel “God of War: Ragnarok” by default. This is mainly due to the fact that, at this time, Santa Monica Studio and PlayStation have not announced what would be the formal name of the next installment of the God of war the series will really be. That said, if it causes a new mockery God of war director and writer Cory Barlog is any indication, it seems that, after all, “Ragnarok” will not appear in the title.
In a new tweet from Barlog on Twitter, the famous video game director shared an article using the God of War: Ragnarok naming convention. Barlog provided a title of his own when he shared the tweet and asked, “How come I’ve never heard of this game?” Although it has not been absolutely confirmed, it seems to be a suggestion that God of War: Ragnarok after all, it’s not the name of the next game in the series.

How come I’ve never heard of this game? https://t.co/zyDCww2eFN

That said, Barlog could only be pulling his legs out with this latest tweet. If you follow Barlog on Twitter, you’re probably aware that he’s not talking about the next one God of war I play so much. And even when he does, it’s often cleverly like this that somehow makes fun of the project’s existence.
Still, it makes sense that God of War: Ragnarok it’s hardly the name of the next sequel. The only reason this title came up in the first place is because the game’s revealing trailer simply contained the God of war logo next to the words “Ragnarok is coming”. Many began to use them God of War: Ragnarok as an abbreviation to refer to the next title, although those working on the game in any title have never called it anything of the sort.
For now, all we know for sure about the following God of war is that it is expected to be released on PS5 in 2021. A version of the game for PlayStation 4 could also appear on the cards, but Sony’s powers have not confirmed or denied this information. With the release still slated for this year, be sure to follow our sequel coverage right here if you want to stay up to date.
Do you think Barlog’s teasing here indicates that? God of War: Ragnarok after all, the name of the sequel isn’t it? Be sure to let me know via the comments or via Twitter at @ MooreMan12.
