Update 2: After the delay mentioned below, the distribution of the Galarica Crown, a necessary element to evolve a Galarian Slowpoke to a Galarian Slowking, is now live in Pokémon Sword and Shield for a very limited time. You can get the article by entering the code CR0WNF1NALS on the Mystery Gift screen of the game.
The code will only remain valid until 2:59 pm UTC tomorrow Sunday, February 7 (thanks, Serebii). It’s 6:59 am PT / 9:59 am ET / 3:59 pm CET.
Update 1: Unfortunately, Serebii reports that the tournament finals during which the special code was expected to be distributed have been delayed, meaning that it may be a while before the Galarica free crown is achieved:
Original article (Friday, December 11, 2020 at 2:30 PM GMT): Next week, Pokémon Sword and Shield players will be able to easily get one of the most awkward items to get from the game.
During the South Korean Pokémon Sword and Shield Crown tournament, which is scheduled to be played live online, a distribution code will be released that will give players a Galarica crown. This special item is the only way to evolve a Galarian Slowpoke into a Galarian Slowking, so Pokédex collectors and finalists will want to grab it while they can.
Serebii reports that the code “will run only 24 hours from the start of the event until 14:59 UTC on December 20.” Codes are not blocked by region, so you can get the Galarica crown regardless of your location once you share the code.
It’s worth noting that you can get a Galarica crown in the game without using a special code, but it’s one of the items that requires the most time. To get one, you’ll need to find no less than 15 Galarica twigs, an already relatively rare item, and deliver them to a NPC in The Roaring-Sea Caves of The Crown Tundra. If you have trouble finding them, this will be a great opportunity to speed up the process.
