Jacksonville, Fla. – The COVID-19 vaccine is a beacon of hope in the fight against the virus.
However, until it becomes widely available, doctors are reminding the public that they can control the virus more than once.
That’s what happened to Wal-Jordan White, who spoke to News4Jox on Monday.
“It was like finding out you were pregnant at 66,” she said, recalling the first positive test result. “We went through it. For about three weeks I was recovering, feeling better, exercising again, and then I started to feel bad again.”
After being re-examined a few weeks after the first diagnosis, she had a negative result. Therefore, she believed that the symptoms she was experiencing must be from something else.
“I called the doctor and they sent me to the emergency room. They did blood work, chest x-rays, they said they would come back and check everything, but you are in favor of the corona, ”White explained.
Dr. Saman Solimani, president of Avesina Medical, said that although it was very rare, he had two patients who were twice tested positive for the virus.
“We know that antibodies will decrease over time,” Solimani said.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: “The presence of antibodies to the virus that causes COVID-19 protects against re-infection. But even so, we do not know how much protection antibodies can provide or how long this protection will last. ”
“This is why the level of antibody you get with the vaccine is higher than when you got the disease,” Solimani said.
That’s why the CDC says that even if you have Covit-19 or are eventually vaccinated, it is still important to wear your mask, keep it 6 feet apart and wash your hands.
