The end of Wonder Woman 1984 is told

Wonder Woman 1984 is currently in operation in Indian cinemas. The direction of Patty Jenkins brings Gal Gadot back into the role of the Amazon superhero. Set in the 1980s, the DC film pits Diana of Gal Gadot against Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah and Pedro Pascal’s Maxwell Lord.

The film has received mostly positive reviews, although critics have said it is not as good as the original 2017 film.

What happens at the end of Wonder Woman 1984? (FRONT SPOILERS)

In the 1980s, Diana works as a senior anthropologist at the Smithsonian Institution, where she meets Barbara Ann Minerva (Wiig), an insecure woman who wants to be as powerful, confident, and elegant as Diana.

Pascal’s Maxwell is a businessman who wants the Dreamstone, the MacGuffin of the film that initiates the main conflict of the film. It’s the dream stone that returns Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) to Diana’s life and turns Minerva into a cheetah. It grants desires but also recovers something vital. When Diana recovers Steve, her powers begin to disappear. Minerva may have become powerful, but now she is a being of pure rage.

Maxwell finally acquires the dream stone and begins to grant himself wishes. He also becomes an influential businessman, but begins to age and die. He counteracts this by aspiring to the life force of others. Barbara and Maxwell get together as she loves her powers too much and doesn’t want Diana to hurt Maxwell.

Diana puts on the Golden Eagle armor of the legendary Amazonian warrior Asteria (more on that later) and defeats Cheetah. Diana then confronts Maxwell, who uses a new dissemination system to grant wishes to everyone. It accidentally gives the United States even more nuclear weapons and threatens a nuclear holocaust (perhaps the only relevance of the Cold War context). Diana uses the Loop of Truth to convince everyone in the world to give up her desires, undoing the damage caused by Maxwell. Barbara also loses her powers.

Wonder Woman 1984 half credit

A half-credit scene after the film features a mysterious woman rescuing people from being crushed under a stick. She looks like a wonderful woman. But it’s actually Asteria, the legendary Amazonian warrior, who originally wore the Golden Eagle armor that Diana wears in the final act of the film.

Also, the actor who appears as Asteria is actually Lynda Carter, who rehearsed the role of Wonder Woman in the 1970s television series.

Wonder Woman 1984 premiered in India on December 24th.
