It’s just over a week until gift day, and while I’m sure we all care about getting our friends, loved ones, and recurring bad guys, what’s wrong with taking a little treat? The Epic Games Store holiday sale begins today, giving away a new free game for the next 15 days, along with the usual full-store offerings. Your first gift is Cities: Skylines, with so much more to come over the next two weeks.
In anticipation of its weekly free holiday rotation, Epic Games Store last week announced that it would be giving away a new free game every day for 15 days, starting today. They will only be available the day they arrive; if you want to claim all 15, you’ll need to sign in to Epic Store every day for the next two weeks.
This is one way to make sure people check out their vacation deals. The other way is to have deals that are worth reviewing, and in that sense, it looks like the sale may have some good deals. At the time of writing, the Holiday Sale page is generating a huge 404, but the Epic home page shows a few major discounts, including a 40% discount on Star Wars: Squadrons, 60% off Rainbow Six: Siege a 17% weird and specific discount on Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla.
Like last year, Epic also got a $ 10 coupon to spend on whatever you feel like. They are claimed by making a sales purchase or getting a free game, although you can also earn more by grabbing any “qualified title” at a price of $ 14.99 or higher. A few new filters have been added to the store to help reduce which games will provide you with these discount cards.
Cities: Skylines will be free to add to your library until tomorrow afternoon, when Epic will offer a new free game. We don’t officially know what’s in store for the rest of the month, but Cities ’debut carries weight previous leaks suggesting that characters like The Witcher 3, Horizon Zero Dawn and Hitman 2, among others, be added.
Take it with your usual pinch of salt. But, if true, it looks like there will be a few bakers to collect for zero dollars over the next two weeks. We hope the Epic website holds up long enough to catch them.
