The executive director of the Roads and Transportation Authority, who had been renamed Pierluisi, resigns

The executive director of the Highways and Transportation Authority (ACT), Rosana Aguilar, today submitted her resignation letter, effective December 31st.

The information was confirmed at The New Day by Sheila Angleró, press officer of the elected governor, Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia.

“Yes, she resigned for personal reasons,” Angleró said.

Aguilar was to remain as director of the ACT under Pierluisi’s governorship, and the elected governor had already introduced him as part of his cabinet at a press conference on December 7th.

Aguilar, however, was heavily criticized by Bayamón Mayor Ramón Luis Rivera Cruz, who is leading the transition of government views.

At the December 10 hearings, Rivera Creu questioned the ACT director for the slowness in which they have processed contracts to use $ 169 million available in federal government emergency funds for improvements to the Urban Train , the only route runs from Santurce to Bayamón.

For his part, Pierluisi indicated in written expressions that “I received the resignation of engineer Rosana Aguilar to her position and her reputation as director of the Highway Authority. I thank her for the service provided in Puerto Rico. Along with the designated secretary of the Department of Transportation and Public Works, engineer Eileen Vélez, will be identifying and designating a person in the coming days. “
